TAYLORING IT UP
Zach and Tia | Downtown Des Moines Engagement Session
Here it is folks, part two of Zach and Tia’s engagement session. For a different feel we went downtown and snapped some portraits in front of the beautiful ivy wall that I’m now obsessed with. I love how changing outfits and locations can create a totally different look in engagement photos.

I love how changing outfits and locations can create a totally different look in engagement photos. Which is why I always recommend my couples bring two outfits to their session for some variety 🙂Scroll down to see the wall I’m talking about and Zach and Tia in all their cute glory.
If Zach and Tia were to start a band I’d like to think this would be their cover art 😎
I’m counting down the days until I get to photograph these two again on their wedding at the Teachout Building downtown! 😍I have availability for 2020 and would love to document the moments that are most important to you on your wedding day so you can have them forever!
Zach and Tia | Sunflower Field Engagement Session
I’ve been friends with Zach and Tia for a few years and had them model for me in the past and even got to photograph their roof top proposal. So I was so excited when Tia reached out to me about being their wedding photographer!

So I was so excited when Tia reached out to me about being their wedding photographer! She had a fun vision of doing part one of their engagement photos in a sunflower field, which I think we knocked out of the park 😊
I have so many favorites from Zach and Tia’s engagement session that I decided to split them into two blog posts, that way I get to give them the spotlight they deserve and you don’t have to look at 50 photos all at once 😉Be on the look out for part two featuring a beautiful ivy wall in Downtown Des Moines next week!
Laynee and Sam Engagement Session | Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden
Sam and Laynee wanted their session at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden and I said yes to that idea right away. I love greenery and there is nothing more soothing to me than being surrounded by nature. All the sweet looks, touches, and giggles got me so excited for their big day! 😍

Laynee is a total plant lover and as we walked around she was naming plants and it was obvious she knew her stuff. If I have a plant question in the future I’m totally asking her. Sam on the other hand is a Laynee lover and it was very obvious during their session. 😉 All the sweet looks, touches, and giggles got me so excited for their big day! 😍
These two are getting married summer 2020 at the Iowa Taproom and I cannot wait! For now I will just keep looking at their photos to tide me over ;)
Randi Kate and Brad Engagement Session | Decorah Iowa Engagement Photographer
Originally Randi Kate and Brad weren’t going to do an engagement session due to Brad being deployed in Hawaii and having limited time back in Iowa. But things worked out perfectly and while I was in town for a wedding and we were able to hang out and make some magic.
This was almost engagement session that wasn’t, but luckily we can call it the engagement session for the books instead because dang these two are CUTE 😍
Originally Randi Kate and Brad weren’t going to do an engagement session due to Brad being deployed in Hawaii and having limited time back in Iowa. But things worked out perfectly and while I was in town for a wedding and we were able to hang out and make some magic. Boy am I glad we did. These two (high school sweethearts) have the sweetest love and I’m so happy I was able to photograph it. Seriously, take a look for yourself!
For part two of Randi Kate and Brad engagement session we went downtown. These two have lots of memories together in town and it seems like the perfect place to snag some photos together.
Randi Kate brought a super cute “Mrs.” hat and we incorporated it into a few of the photos. I love when clients come with things they want to include in photos 🙂 It makes the sappy part of my heart sing a little louder.
I’m so excited to travel back to Decorah and photograph Randi Kate and Brad’s wedding day in December!
Alison and Caleb Engagement Session | Des Moines Engagement Photographer
These two. Where do I even start. With lots of heart eyes for sure. I met Alison and Caleb behind the Des Moines Art Center at The Clare & Miles Mills Rose Garden. They specifically requested a nature filled engagement session because like me they enjoy spending their time outside in nature. As soon as we started the session I knew we were going to have a great time together.

I met Alison and Caleb behind the Des Moines Art Center at The Clare & Miles Mills Rose Garden. They specifically requested a nature filled engagement session because like me they enjoy spending their time outside. As soon as we started the session I knew we were going to have a great time together. These two are so sweet and genuine with each other and all their tender moments together were so stinking cute. I was saying “Oh my gosh you guys are the cutest'“ every other photo and they’d just smile and continue to be the cutest.
By the middle and end of the session Caleb asked for few specific poses which I LOVED. Can all guys be this into their engagement session? 😉 These two were so trusting of me and were up for whatever which had my heart pitter pattering and it paid off big time. Scroll through to see for yourself!
Okay, story time about the next set of photos.
At our second location, Caleb had a book under his arm and explained when they were in South Africa they would go to book stores and buy different books together. When family visited they made them take books back because they had so many. So now they have all these books they collected in their home and mementos of their time in South Africa together. He wanted to incorporate one of the books because they spent 6 months together in South Africa. My sentimental heart about exploded.
I love how intentional these two are with their relationship. From the stories they told me to the way the held each other during their session; I cannot wait for their wedding at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden this August.
