The Best of Both Worlds Engagement Session with Mark & Emily

As a photographer who loves the city and nature, when couples come to me and want to incorporate both into their engagement session my heart sings.

One thing I especially love about the city of Des Moines is that downtown there is a great mix of architecture and nature together.

Walking around downtown Des Moines learning about Emily and Mark’s relationship was a blast. Ending it at Waterworks Park by the water was the cherry on top. Can you believe these two locations are only 10 minutes away from each other? Just one of the many perks of Des Moines, Iowa 🥰

I’m so excited for Emily & Mark’s big day next month and cannot wait to photograph them again, this time on their wedding day! 😊

Downtown Des Moines Engagement Session - Bailey & Aaron

I will never get tired of exploring downtown Des Moines with my couples. Bailey and Aaron requested downtown views for their engagement session so we started at the Women’s Achievement Bridge and ended outside the State Historical Building.

Don’t want to do an outfit change but still want some variety in your engagement session? Aaron and Baylie are the perfect example of how to do this! Going to a second location can give the same outfit a totally different feel ☺️ Scroll to see them during the prettiest Des Moines sunset.

Aaron and Baylie were so sweet and easy going. I had such a fun time witnessing their relationship and being the third wheel during their engagement session. I’m so excited to photograph their wedding day at Noce Des Moines this spring!

Anna and Wil Engagement Session | Des Moines Engagement Photographer

I met up with Anna and Wil at the Arie den Boer Arboretum in the front of Des Moines Water Works for the start of their engagement session. The fall colors were still on display and Anna’s dress was perfect for the setting around her. We bonded over mutual friends we shared and our love for the outdoors. Next we went further back into Water Works and found a wooded area featuring a pond for their second location. I loved the variety we were able to get in just an hour with an outfit and 5 minute drive. Which location is your favorite? The first or second spot of their engagement session? Riana's Yellow Banks Park Senior Session | Pleasant Hill Senior Photographer

Riana discovered Yellow Banks Park earlier this year, created lots of memories around the park, and wanted her senior session there so she could remember all of the good times. 😍Her love for the park and memories made there had my sentimental heart skipping a beat. During her session we explored different parts of the park and got our fair share of exercise in! We had to reschedule once due to rain (classic Iowa fall), but we ended up with the most beautiful fall day for our backdrop. See for yourself! 🍁

Amber and Andrew Engagement Session | Kellogg Iowa Engagement Photographer

Even though it called for rain all day Amber and Andrew let me know that they were still up for their engagement session at Rock Creek State Park and were excited! I love when my couples go with the flow of non-ideal weather and trust in me to still get genuine moments of them. We explored the grounds together and I brought along few umbrellas just in case it started to downpour during their session. It sprinkled off and on, but that didn’t diminish Amber or Andrew’s smile at all.

I had so much fun walking around and exploring the park with Amber and Andrew. Their engagement session got me so excited for their wedding day!

I love engagement session because I get to spend time with my couples, get to know them during the hour, and help them become more comfortable in front of the camera. I have availability for 2020 weddings and would love to capture your wedding day 🙂
