Zach and Tia | Sunflower Field Engagement Session
I’ve been friends with Zach and Tia for a few years and had them model for me in the past and even got to photograph their roof top proposal. So I was so excited when Tia reached out to me about being their wedding photographer!
I’ve been friends with Zach and Tia for a few years and had them model for me in the past and even got to photograph their roof top proposal. So I was so excited when Tia reached out to me about being their wedding photographer! She had a fun vision of doing part one of their engagement photos in a sunflower field, which I think we knocked out of the park 😊
I have so many favorites from Zach and Tia’s engagement session that I decided to split them into two blog posts, that way I get to give them the spotlight they deserve and you don’t have to look at 50 photos all at once 😉Be on the look out for part two featuring a beautiful ivy wall in Downtown Des Moines next week!
Alison and Caleb Engagement Session | Des Moines Engagement Photographer
These two. Where do I even start. With lots of heart eyes for sure. I met Alison and Caleb behind the Des Moines Art Center at The Clare & Miles Mills Rose Garden. They specifically requested a nature filled engagement session because like me they enjoy spending their time outside in nature. As soon as we started the session I knew we were going to have a great time together.

I met Alison and Caleb behind the Des Moines Art Center at The Clare & Miles Mills Rose Garden. They specifically requested a nature filled engagement session because like me they enjoy spending their time outside. As soon as we started the session I knew we were going to have a great time together. These two are so sweet and genuine with each other and all their tender moments together were so stinking cute. I was saying “Oh my gosh you guys are the cutest'“ every other photo and they’d just smile and continue to be the cutest.
By the middle and end of the session Caleb asked for few specific poses which I LOVED. Can all guys be this into their engagement session? 😉 These two were so trusting of me and were up for whatever which had my heart pitter pattering and it paid off big time. Scroll through to see for yourself!
Okay, story time about the next set of photos.
At our second location, Caleb had a book under his arm and explained when they were in South Africa they would go to book stores and buy different books together. When family visited they made them take books back because they had so many. So now they have all these books they collected in their home and mementos of their time in South Africa together. He wanted to incorporate one of the books because they spent 6 months together in South Africa. My sentimental heart about exploded.
I love how intentional these two are with their relationship. From the stories they told me to the way the held each other during their session; I cannot wait for their wedding at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden this August.
Kailie + Kale: Hello, Marjorie Engagement Session | Des Moines Engagement Photographer
Kailie and Kale were so cute and up for anything at their engagement session. We started at Hello Marjorie which was where they first celebrated their engagement.
Kailie and Kale were so cute and up for anything at their engagement session. We started at Hello, Marjorie which was where they first celebrated their engagement. You would have never guessed Kailie’s first words to me were "we are pretty nervous." I love that part of my job is to help melt away the "in front of the camera" jitters. Seeing clients go from nervous to we wish this night wouldn't end is the best 😍 Take a look for yourself!

Hannah + Tate: Decorah Engagement Session | Decorah Wedding Photographer
I’ve known Hannah since she was in middle school and met Tate at my wedding almost two years ago. The minute I saw them slow dancing together I knew I was witnessing something special. Naturally, I was so excited to see them get engaged and then when Hannah said they wanted me to photograph their wedding that was just icing on the cake!

Fast forward to their engagement session, Tate carried in a little box and explains they played cribbage on their very first date and thought he’d bring it just in case. Queue my heart melting into a puddle of sentimental sap. After sipping coffee, reminiscing, and a few minutes of them being their adorable selves we headed outside to take advantage of the rain free hour. Praise Jesus! Tate was laying on the kisses and making Hannah smile and giggle the whole time. Their love was so genuine and contagious; I cannot wait to photograph it again on their wedding day!
